I swear that I have work-induced narcolepsy. I could spend all afternoon browsing web pages or chatting online, or playing a game such as Civilization, and I may feel tired but I'd still have no trouble staying awake. As soon as I try to concentrate on this very long paper that I'm supposed to finish editing today, though, bam! I'm full of yawns, I try to focus, next thing I realize is that my eyes are closed, I'm off in some half-dream about something else, and I've been startled into that realization because I've started to lightly snore. Sure, I threw off my sleep schedule again over the weekend, and sure, I haven't necessarily had enough sleep over the past couple days as a result, but still there's a very clear correlation between trying to work and having to fight off sleepiness, versus not working and not having that problem. I just don't understand it.

Before I started to write this entry, just as I snapped out of my drowsiness again, the KEXP dj announced the song he'd just played was "Workers, Wake Up!" by Peel. Nice.
